The project will take place from Wednesday, January 27 through Friday, February 12. Medical Missionaries is requesting the following items to be placed in a one-gallon zip-loc bag: one washcloth, one bar of soap, one toothbrush, and one tube of toothpaste. You may contribute as many zip-loc bags as you wish. Collection boxes will be placed in the upper commons, the library, Sr. Seton's office, Campus Ministry, and Student Services. UPCOMING EVENTS:
-
VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED AS DRIVERS FOR FRESHMAN RETREAT [Feb 12th - 14th]: The GFC contributes to the Freshman Retreat Weekend by providing logistical support for the various retreat activities. This requires a lot of manpower and GFC volunteers are sorely needed. The most urgent need is driving groups of students to and from host families' homes on Saturday, Feb. 13 (75 drivers needed). Driving starts at approximately 1:30 pm at Gonzaga. You will be expected to take a group of boys to a group leader's home, where they will participate in retreat activities and have dinner. Later in the evening, you will return and transport them back to Gonzaga, where they will spend the night. We will try to assign drivers to group leader homes that are near their own homes, to minimize driving times. If you can volunteer to drive, please contact Tim Jorgensen by email as soon as possible: tjorge01@georgetown.edu.
-
"God on Eye Street" Membership Meeting [Wednesday, Feb 17th at 6:00 PM]: The GFC "God on Eye Street" evening of reflection will be on Ash Wednesday this year, so you can begin Lent with a GFC mini-retreat. There will be Mass (including distribution of ashes), a simple dinner, small group discussion, and an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation for those who wish. Fr. Tim Stephens will be leading us and the evening should be over by 8:30 or 9 pm.
-
Father/Son Service Project [Saturday, Feb 27th]: Planning is under way for the Father/Son Service Project. This is the second of three Father/Son events this year and a great opportunity, once again, to be with your son and serve the community. A day-long project - volunteers are accepted for all day, just the morning or just the afternoon. Traditionally we have upwards of 200 fathers and sons participate in this event. For more details contact the McCarthy clan at: JMcCarthy@crowell.com or Phil.McCarthy@transwestern.net.
-
DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY to serve your sons and their Mom's at the Mother-Son Communion Breakfast [March 14th]: Make the most important committment of your year, email Tom Walsh or Dan Weitzel, VOLUNTEER TODAY!
